Hint for using V 4.0

The Heli

Even if the new software is capable of handling mechanical drawbacks much better, best results are arcived by having a optimal mechanical setup. This includes the head dampening, blades and geometry of the linkages. This is given on Logo Helis as well on the conversion kits from Mikado. If you do a self made conversion, please try to get the mechanical seup as good as possible. This will guarantee maximum success of the conversion.

Trim Flight (Video 18)

The Trim flight is intended to get infomations about the neutral position in hover. This is a importat basis information for the control loop to work on. The Trim flight shall contain phases, where the Heli is left by its own for a few seconds, als well as phases, where you control the heli to nicely hover. Its some sort of showing VBar where the sweet spot is. So try to hover it somewhere, adust the hover as good as possible. If it is nice, let the heli float for a few seconds. Readjust the hover and repeat this for a few times.

Trim flight can only be done in absolute calm conditions, dont try to do it in windy conditions. The result will be worse as completely dropping it. If you have spent effort to cleanly adjust the mechanics, the trim flight will do only small corrections, so you can drop it if you are satisfied with the flight performance.

A good test is doing a medium speed piruette. If the piruette is nicely level, the trim is perfect, no need to start or continue the trim flight. It is allowed to do the piruette during trim flight just to check the actual result.

The traffic light is a hint, how much time was spent in trim mode without stick inputs. So if the piruette is clean, dont care about the traffic light.

A good trim will not be seen in Hover! The Heli will hover hands off even if not trimmed right, or CG moved out. But on hard collective inputs, you will notice strange movements if trim is off. Try to fix your CG as good as possible, check with different battery packs and apply a mark somewhere to get is always right quickly.

EXPO Settings

VBar now comes with its own Expo built in. If you convert from 3.16, you probably will have your own expo programmed in the Transmitter. Decide if you want to use TX´s Expo or VBars built in expo. Deactivate one of these, otherwise you will get double expo which feels sluggish.
